COL. PARKER'S FUNERAL

Aged Soldier to Be Laid to Rest at Gowanda Tomorrow Afternoon

"GOWANDA, May 28 [1908]--(Special).--Col. Thomas J. Parker died at his home on Walnut street last night at the advanced age of 95 years. Col. Parker was born at Junius, Seneca county, N.Y., Aug. 17, 1813, and came to Gowanda about 1831. He lived 68 years in the house where he died. He leaves two sons and two daughters, George W. Parker of Gowanda, Marcus W. Parker of Arcadia, Cal.; Mrs. M.W. Stuart of Gowanda, Mrs. L. Van Ostrand of Buffalo. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 P.M. in charge of the G.A.R. Post of this village

Col. Parker was instrumental in organizing the 64th Regiment, probably as good a regiment as went from this State. He went to Elmira, Aug. 27, 1861, to complete the organization of the 64th. Sept. 1, Company A of the 64th went to Elmira from this village and was mustered into the U.S. Army Dec. 10, 1861"
