Edward T. McCutcheon : Enrolled at Gowanda Oct. 30, 1861 at age 24 to serve three years; mustered in as Private, Co. A, 64th New York Vol. Infantry, Nov. 2, 1861; promoted Corporal, April 21, 1862; sergeant, Dec. 1, 1862; First Sergeant, no date; mustered in as First Lieutenant, Nov. 7, 1863; transferred to Co. D, Jan. 19, 1864; captured in action, June 17, 1864, at Petersburg, VA; paroled, no date; mustered out March 16, 1865.

Commissioned, not mustered, 2nd Lieutenant, October 15, 1863, with rank from June 18, 1863, vice G.B. Fisk promoted; 1st Lieutenant, January 8, 1864, with rank from November 6, 1863, vice W.W. Roller promoted.  

Reference:
"Adjutant General's Report, 1901". The "Adjutant General's Report" gives his first name and middle initial as Edwin F.

He is buried at Pine Hill Cemetery, Gowanda, Erie County, NY.
