Hosea Breese: On Oct. 7, 1861, at age 23, Hosea enlisted at Lansing, Tompkins County, to serve three years. He was mustered in as Private and served in Company E until he was discharged with disability on March 27, 1863 at Fortress Monroe, VA.
Hosea was the son of Rev. Moses P. Breese and Alvira. After his service in the 64th he married Christina Brown in Etna, NY on December 31, 1865 and they moved to Salinas, California in 1868 where they raised their two children: Shepard and May. Hosea died in 1918.
